John Quincy Adams

John Quincy Adams was born on July 11,1767, in Braintree, Massachusetts. He was the sixth president of the U.S.

John Quincy Adams died February 23, 1848, in Washington D.C. He was a Unitarian. He graduated from Harvard College in 1787. He was a lawyer. His political party was that Democratic-Republican. John Quincy Adams' Father's name was John Adams. who was the second president of the United States. His Mother's name was Abigail Smith Adams.

John married Louisa Catherine Johnson. They had 4 children. George Washington Adams (1801-29), John Adams (1803-34), Charles Francis Adams (1807-86), Louisa Catherine Adams 1811-12). President Adams regularly swam nude in the Potomac river. Anne Royal, the first American professional Journalist, knew of Adam's morning swims. The president refused to be interviewed by her, so one day, she went to the river, gathered his clothes and sat on them until she interviewed him. Before this, no female reporter had interviewed a president.

Adams was the first president elected without receiving either the most popular votes or the most votes of the electoral College.

He was the first president to be married abroad. He was also the first president to be photographed, and the only one to be elected to the house after presidency. One of his sons, George Washington Adams, died at the age of 28; he apparently committed suicide.
