Whether you're interested in learning a foreign language so you can travel, read, or improve your communication with friends and neighbors, LAUSD offers a choice of dozens of foreign language options. Not only do courses in any of the foreign languages listed below count as electives toward graduation, all the courses meet college admission requirements.
Not all courses are offered at all high schools all the time, so check with your counselor to find out what's available at your school each semester.
Advanced Placement (AP) courses are college-level courses taught at the high school. They are challenging and demanding. Students who successfully complete an AP course and earn a minimum score on the national AP subject exam are awarded both high school and college credit for their efforts. Minimum scores are determined by each college and depend on your choice of major. Check with your college counselor for the latest requirements.
