High School Diploma Information

Due to NCLBA legislation, the District Proficiency Test is no longer accepted in lieu of having a high school diploma. Furthermore, the NCLBA high school diploma requirement must be met immediately.

LAUSD paraprofessionals who do not have a high school diploma are encouraged to pursue a recognized equivalent to a high school diploma with the California High School Proficiency Exam (CHSPE) or the GED.

Also, please be advised, the LAUSD Personnel Commission does not accept high school diplomas from the schools listed below. The organizations listed below do not meet the standard of equivalency to a recognized high school diploma due to lack of accreditation from one of the six regional accrediting agencies or their affiliates, curriculum descriptions, and/or unclear assessment standards and rigor.

(The following is a non-lausd partial list and subject to change.)

  • Balboa High School
  • Belmont College Preparatory School
  • California Alternative High School
