A Los Angeles Community College District Program
PACE stands for Program Accelerated College Education. PACE is a two to two and a half year program available at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College, Compton College, East Los Angeles College, and Los Angeles Harbor College which offers general education courses in a format designed especially for adult students.
Los Angeles Trade-Technical College
At LATTC, full-time PACE students take four courses (12 units) per semester making it possible to complete the program in two years (including two summer sessions). PACE classes are eight to nine weeks in length with two classes taught the first half of the semester and two classes taught the second half of the semester. Students attend class one night a week (from 5:30-9:30pm), view one eight hour video per class, and attend a pre-determined number of Saturday Conferences (8am-5pm).
LATTC's PACE curriculum is designed for a liberal arts major with an emphasis in liberal studies, the humanities, or business. There is also an education curriculum for students hoping to become elementary school teachers. For more information, contact LATTC's PACE office at (213) 744-9447.
Compton College
At Compton College, PACE stands for Project for Adult College Education. This five semester program requires students to attend class one evening per week for four hours (two hours for one class and two hours for another), participate in five all day Saturday Conferences and one half day Saturday Conference, and view one hour of instructional television per course per week. English, Math, and Science courses offered through PACE may also require additional laboratory hours during the semester. Successful completion of Compton College's PACE curriculum yields an A.A. degree in Liberal Studies. East Los Angeles College
The PACE Program at ELAC offers two different tracks of study: Teaching/Liberal Arts and Business Administration. At ELAC, full-time students earn 12 units each semester by attending classes one night a week, viewing instructional television two hours a week, and participating in eight Saturday sessions per semester. ELAC's PACE Program is a five semester program. Additional information is available from the PACE office at (323) 265-8603.
Los Angeles Harbor College
LAHC's PACE Program is a five semester program for full-time students. At LAHC, students earn 12 to 13 units per semester by attending class one night a week (6-10pm), viewing two hours of instructional videos per week, and attending eight Saturday Conferences (six all day and two half day). Los Angeles Mission College
LA Mission's PACE program is also a five semester program for full-time students. Students attend class one or two evenings per week along with designated Saturdays. There are five PACE tracks offered at LA Mission: Business, Elementary Teaching, General Studies, Health Sciences, and Social Sciences. The Organizational Excellence
Classified Training Program
The Organizational Excellence Classified Training Program is LAUSD's training resource designed to support classified employees' roles in improving student achievement.The Personnel Commission's Organizational Excellence (OE) Classified Training Program provides continuous and customized training services for classified employees. With OE training, Classified Employees attend top quality training sessions in convenient locations and at no personal cost. The OE team strives to exceed your expectations and is dedicated to providing a full range of training opportunities.
A wide range of training topics (with the exception of computer-related training) is available through the Organizational Excellence Program. Programs cover such topics as customer service, telephone courtesy, communication, interpersonal relations, time management, conflict management, workplace diversity, supervision, leadership and more.
Training is a critical investment in employees. District jobs are extremely dynamic causing new and updated skills to be a must for success. Organizational Excellence programs are designed to offer the latest strategies, tools, and information to classified employees.
