These materials have
been developed for enhancing
LAUSD classroom technology
through three different media:
a web site with PDF content
files, a CD-ROM mirroring the
web content, and a series of
familiarity videos.
CD-ROM
The
Professional Development
Materials CD-ROM for the
Classroom Technology Initiative
mirrors the HTML front end and
PDF content files found on the
web site.
The
CD-ROM will allow teachers who
are either unfamiliar with web
browsing techniques or whose
classrooms are not equipped
with Internet access to use the
same content materials that are
available on the web site.
Video The
Classroom Technology Initiative
videos for LAUSD provide
teachers with a series of five
15-minute familiarity videos to
enhance their teaching and
learning through the use of
technology.
The
five 15-minute videos are
available on one 75-minute VHS
tape. The five titles are:
- Windows 98, Peripherals, and Internet Explorer
- Word 2000 for the PC
- Excel 2000 for the PC
- PowerPoint 2000 for the PC
- Assistive
Technologies for the PC
Windows 98 – This
familiarity video introduces
teachers to some of the basic
functions of the Windows 98
operating system that comes
installed with the IBM NetVista
computers. This video also
introduces teachers to the
peripherals that come with the
system, and the basics of web
browsing using Internet
Explorer.
Word 2000 for the PC – This familiarity video introduces teachers to some of the basic tools and techniques of Word 2000 for PC computers.
Excel 2000 for the PC –
This familiarity video
introduces teachers to some of
the basic tools and techniques
of Excel 2000 for PC computers.
PowerPoint 2000 for the PC –
This familiarity video
introduces teachers to some of
the basic tools and techniques
of PowerPoint 2000 for PC
computers.
Assistive Technologies for the PC –
This familiarity video
introduces teachers to some of
the assistive technologies
built into the IBM NetVista,
and some hardware attachments.

Materials for LAUSD Classroom
Technology web site contains a
combination of navigational and
informational web pages and
links along with a series of
indexed PDF content files.
Web Pages – Each web page contains navigational menus and links with a similar look and feel throughout the web site. The pages contain informational overviews about the different media used to deliver the professional development materials and introductions to the PDF content files.
PDF Content Files – The PDF content files contains indexed content for all training material categories with a similar look and feel throughout the materials.
