Financial Reporting Section - (213) 241-7932

The Financial Reporting Section staff are responsible for developing and preparing various Federal, State and District mandated financial reports among which are the first and second interim financial reports (reports of revenue, expenditures and changes in fund balances), year end unaudited actual financial statements; the annual program cost accounting reports; current expense formula/teacher salary computation; schedule of federal and state grant awards and entitlements; comprehensive annual financial report; annual report classified by schools; reports and analyses required in the accounting for Charter Schools and LEARN Schools; and other various types of reports requested by the Board or management.

Section staff also provide cash management for all District funds; determine and monitor cash flow and invests cash during the period it is not required; establish and control the accounting code structure for budgeted and program codes and locations; control, account for, and distribute the Annuity Reserve Fund and Attendance Incentive Reserve Fund.

General Ledgers Section - (213) 241-7970

The General Ledgers Section staff are primarily responsible for maintaining the District's general ledgers for all operating funds. This includes the proper accounting of all revenue, expenditures and balance sheet accounts for the District's over $6 billion budget.

Section staff also maintain a specialized accouning system for: 1) the District's Food Services Program to account for all activities in the Cafeteria Fund, and 2) Proposition BB Bonds and State projects for construction, reconstruction and air conditioning. Staff provide analyses and reports relating to the operation of school cafeterias and the administrative office cafeteria and prepare and provide detailed analyses and required financial reports to obtain State reimbursements.

Specially Funded Accounting Section (213) 241-7916

The Specially Funded Accounting Section staff provide specialized accounting and reports for various grants received from the Local, State, and Federal Governments, and private organizations. Section staff are responsible for monitoring costs and preparing claims for Federal, State, and Local grant programs including ESEA Chapter I Program, Goals 2000, Job Training Partnership Act (JTPA) Programs, School Improvement Programs, Economic Impact Aid, Pre-School Expansion, Library and Learning Resources, etc.

Further, section staff establish, maintain, and control program codes and revenue accounts for various grants in accordance with the District State mandated and funding agencies requirements.
