The Turkey Vulture, also called a buzzard, weighs about three pounds, and can grow to two and one-half feet in length, with a six-foot wing span. It lives in dry open country and because it eats carrion is often seen along roadsides. Its head is brown at birth, and slowly turns pink with age.

At Clear Creek there is a Turkey Vulture which was injured while eating carrion. Beaky Buzzard, as the Turkey Vulture is called, was hit by a car and suffered a broken wing.
