The Black Sage can grow from three to six feet high.
Found throughout the chaparral, black sage blooms between
March and June. Its leaves have a strong minty odor and
are an important source of nectar for bees. The tiny
seeds of the black sage were also used by some Native
Americans to make bread meal. Black Sage gets its name
because the bloom remains even after setting their seeds
forming dark spheres.
