The Los Angeles Unified School District began a reforestation program in 1925, after two devastating fires in the Angeles National Forest destroyed thousands of acres. In 1950, the elementary school environmental education program was included. Since that time, Clear Creek has evolved into a center that serves Los Angeles Unified School District students from second- to twelfth-grade, with a variety of programs.
