Wild Cucumber is a trailing vine with long stalked leaves. Its fruit is bright green, about four inches long, and covered with big prickles that turn hard and spiny as the fruit dries. The Wild Cucumber is also known as Manroot because of its large underground root which resembles a human corpse. These strange looking fruits burst open, shooting seeds up to twenty-five feet away from the parent plant.

Some Native Americans made necklaces from the polished seeds.
