DECISION ITEMS
ACCOUNTABILITY TASK FORCE STATUS REPORT AND SCHOOL PERFORMANCE
INDICATORS
Ms. Burton spoke about Senate Bill 1X, the Public School Performance Accountability Program, the local District Accountability Plan, the Academic Performance Index (API), school performance indicators, and support for schools which would be provided by the State Department of Education, by the District, and by Title 1 funds.
Dr. Rasmussen discussed the proposed local standards for school performance. All schools are expected either to improve or to meet the standard for the majority of the performance indicators.

Ms. Lorena Jaramillo, a parent, expressed her views over the Concept 6 modified calendar.
Mr. Aureliano Cortez, President, Zone Bilingual/Bicultural Advisory Committee, expressed his
concerns over the Stanford 9 examination.
Mr. Tom Louie, a member of the United Teachers Los Angeles House of Representatives, expressed his concerns over the waiver process for the Stanford 9 examination, and the attempt by a staff member to cancel a civic center permit event.
Ms. Susana Betancourt, a member of the United Teachers Los Angeles House of Representatives, expressed her views over the parents' right to opt out of standardized testing.
Ms. Burton, Dr. Rasmussen, and Ms. Wong responded to questions raised by the Committee.
STANDARDS-ALIGNED SENIOR HIGH TEXTBOOK RESOLUTION
Mr. Konantz presented Division of Instruction Communication No. 2 proposing the adoption of the standards-aligned senior high school textbook resolution.
The communication was approved for transmittal to the Board of Education on April 25, 2000.
Ms. Lewis shared the results from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing accreditation process for the District Intern Program that was conducted March 6-8, 2000. Accreditation is based on the ability of the program to meet 60 standards which measure the effectiveness and the quality of the program. The overall quality of the program was rated excellent. Out of the 60 standards, 56 were met. Next year, the Commission will revisit the program to ensure that all of the standards have been met.
