AIR CONDITIONING STATUS REPORT

Mr. Paul Holmes, 3DI International, Ins.-O'Brien Kreitzberg, Deputy Program Manager, reported to the Committee that the completion of Group One air conditioning projects, 141 schools, has been delayed. He stated that 63 projects will be completed by September 1, 1998, 70 by September 8, 1998, and the remaining projects, with the exception of one, are approximately 50 percent complete. The delays were attributed to difficulties with the bulk purchasing program set up by the Program Manager, suspension of the bidding process for 13 weeks due to Fast TrackAir Conditioning negotiations, and project managers unfamiliarity with the system for processing construction contracts.

IMPROVED AIR CONDITIONING EQUIPMENT

Dr. Julie Crum informed the Committee that the Board will be receiving a Communication from Purchasing Branch on August 25, requesting Board approval of a contract to purchase Bard air conditioning equipment. The newly approved air conditioning equipment will be quieter, more energy efficient, has a better appearance, and has a five-year warranty on both parts and compressors.
