Motions And Resolutions For Adoption
- V.Ms. Korenstein - National School Breakfast Week (Precatory)
- Whereas, The National School Breakfast Week is celebrated in March each year and its theme
for 1996 is "Open Your Eyes to School Breakfast";
- Whereas, The Los Angeles Unified School District provides a school breakfast program in
every school and child care program in the District and serves more than 212,000 breakfast
meals daily, constituting the largest school breakfast program in the United States; and
- Whereas, Numerous studies have shown that children who eat breakfast perform better in
school and are more creative than those who skip the morning meal, are able to work faster
and make fewer mistakes than students who don't eat breakfast; therefore, be it
- Resolved, That the Board of Education of the City of Los Angeles join other school districts
throughout the Nation to celebrate the week of March 4 to 8, 1996, as National School
Breakfast Week; and be it
- Resolved further, That the Board of Education continue its support of the National School
Breakfast and Lunch Programs and nutrition education for the District's students.
- W.Mr. Kiriyama - Administrative Examination Exemptions: Assistant Principal, Adult Education
(Waiver of Board Rule 72)
- THAT employees currently assigned to the class of Assistant Principal, Adult Education,
appointed under provisions of Board Rule 4213, are exempt from having to take the recently
announced examination for the position, provided the employees have served satisfactorily in
the position for a minimum of one school year as of March 8, 1996; and
- THAT such exemption shall be on a non-precedent-setting basis.
