The Board of Education of the City of Los Angeles, acting as the Governing Board of the Los Angeles Unified School District, met in special session on December 6, 2001, in Room H-160, Los Angeles City Board of Education Administrative Offices, 450 North Grand Avenue.

President Young called the meeting to order at 11:09 a.m.

The following Members were present: Ms. Marlene Canter, Ms. Genethia Hudley Hayes, Mr. José Huizar, Ms. Julie Korenstein, Mr. Mike Lansing, Mr. David Tokofsky and President Caprice Young.

Mr. Huizar led the Pledge of Allegiance.

RECOGNITION

SPECIAL PRESENTATION TO STATE LEGISLATORS AND OTHERS WHO SPONSORED
MEASURES FOR THE LOS ANGELES UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT

The following Senators and Assemblymembers were recognized and honored by the Board for their
dedicated commitment, outstanding leadership and continued efforts to work toward the improvement
of education for the children in the Los Angeles Unified School District. They were presented with a
certificate of appreciation and thanked by the Board Members.

On motion by Mr. Tokofsky, seconded by Ms. Canter, the meeting was adjourned by general
consent at 12:03 p.m.
