SPECIAL CLOSED SESSION MINUTES
10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 16, 1999

On call of the President, the Board of Education of the City of Los Angeles, acting as the Governing Board of the Los Angeles Unified School District, met in public prior to Closed Session on September 16, 1999, in Room H-160, Los Angeles City Board of Education Administrative Offices, 450 North Grand Avenue.

President Genethia Hudley Hayes called the meeting to order at 10:27 a.m., simultaneously with the recessed closed session of September 14, 1999.

The following Board Members were present: Ms. Valerie Fields, Ms. Julie Korenstein, Mr. Mike Lansing, Ms. Caprice Young, and President Genethia Hudley Hayes. Ms. Victoria M. Castro and Mr. David Tokofsky were absent.

Mr. Richard Mason, General Counsel, occupied the Superintendent's chair.

Ms. Young led the Pledge of Allegiance.

At 10:29 a.m. the Board recessed the public portion to begin the closed portion.
Closed session discussion began at 10:50 a.m. and ended at 3:02 p.m.
All Board Members were present during the closed portion of the meeting.

The Board reconvened the meeting at 3:12 p.m. The following Members were present:
Ms. Castro, Ms. Fields, Ms. Korenstein, Mr. Lansing, Ms. Young, and President Hayes.
Mr. Tokofsky was absent.

There were no reportable actions.

On motion by Ms. Castro, seconded by Ms. Korenstein, the meeting adjourned by general consent at 3:13 p.m. Mr. Tokofsky was absent.
