Introduction

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Measure K Library and Information Services Strategic Plan is a series of projects designed to provide instructional resources or access to instructional resources that help foster student achievement throughout the Los Angeles Unified School District. These projects encompass the following:

• Installing a District-wide Centralized Library Automation System (CLAS)
• Installing a system at selected sites that allows access to all District and Internet resources
• Providing new or replacement Book Theft Detection Systems
• Providing new books and automated systems for schools in Phase I of New Construction

INTENT
The intent of the Library and Information Services Strategic Execution Plan is to provide an easy-to-follow explicit guide focused on providing instructional resources or access to instructional resources at school sites throughout the District. The Strategic Execution Plan is the coordinated management plan that will be used to manage library-related upgrades and projects. Further, the Strategic Execution Plan:

• Describes the scope of projects intended for school sites
• Outlines the schedule identifying when and where projects will be completed
• Identifies budgets and costs at the Program and Project levels
• Outlines the management structure and coordination requirements
• Delineates the accountability measures and procedures to be utilized to administer the program and achieve success

MISSION
The mission of the Measure K Library and Information Services Strategic Plan is to support educational practices that enhance student achievement by providing library resources and the technology that enables students and staff to access and utilize information.

VISION
The vision of Library and Information Services is to establish and maintain current and relevant library media centers that provide efficient access to materials and research tools that align with instructional goals. This vision will be realized through a cost-effective, centrally coordinated design and installation process that maintains the Districtıs standard for quantity and quality of library materials while being completed on schedule and within budget.
