Administrative
Report – Cheryl Dellepiane
2003-2004
Calendar was reviewed. The following change was recommended
and accepted after a brief discussion. Term A to be extended
three days, therefore, it will end on Wednesday, November
5 and will be 45 days long. Term B will begin Thursday,
November 6 and end January 3, 43 days long. The change
was recommended in order to add more days to term A since
it is the first Term and there are delays “getting started”
such as testing of students; late arrivals; change in
schedules, etc. The end of Term B cannot be changed because
the District sets the end of Term B. The five extra days
in Term D are there to accommodate the testing schedule.
Budget:
Single Plan for Student Achievement/Assurances, Budgets,
and Justifications for the 2003-2004 Title I Program distributed
for our perusal. The new budget reflects last year’s expenditures.
Mr. Reinhart asked if Title I can assist with the Intervention
and Enrichment Program for next year. Title I and CSR
will be used to “beef up” the tutorial program or a learning
lab. Budget transfers can always be made throughout the
year. Any questions or suggestions should be brought up
at the Title I and Bilingual Parent Meetings.
Possibility
we will have to re-norm in the spring semester.
IMA allocations
have not been received yet.
Faculty
Update – Lisa Karahalios
Still
no final vote regarding Common Planning or Literacy Coaches.
The Union is in favor of having these teachers back in
the classroom.
New Business
Closing
schedule was reviewed.
Students
wander the halls during classtime. Mrs. Delaney did a
wonderful job in conducting a survey and providing the
school with a synopsis of the situation. What can we do
in the fall? Students can be found out of class at any
given time when they should be in class. Some suggestions:
more security, make sure all students have a pass with
their name and time on it; leadership, journalism, yearbook
students will be issued a special I.D. next year. Mr.
Plevack is also working with the City Attorney regarding
a Truancy Policy and some possible solutions that will
involve more sweeps and a moot court program. This is
still in the planning stages.
The school
needs to form a committee or team to look into this problem.
Again, everyone was in agreement Mrs. Delaney did a great
job!
Mr. Lopez
would like to have everyone reminded that there should
be no activities (parties – pizza orders) the week of
school. Some teachers are testing this week. Mrs. Dellepiane
will put out a special memorandum.
Old Business
Mr. Ralles
reported we are still looking into purchasing a new copier.
We are trying out different machines and will make a decision
by next fall.
Mr. Stirpe
-- Talent Show went rather well, approximately 400-500
students attended it.
Congratulations
to the new members of the School Based Management Council:
(one-year term) Mr. McCrary, Mr. Mendesohn and Mr. Hicks.
Alternates Ms. Greenwood and Mr. Laue. Two-year term:
Mr. Elliot, Mr. Reinhart, and Mr. Margolis. Alternate:
Mr. Ambrose.
Next
meeting to be held in September. Date to be announced
at a later time.
