MINUTES
Dr. Wells spoke first about the soon to be in service
Alternative Learning Center which will include a detention
program, Impact, The Independent Study Program, and the
Alternative Learning Center itself which will focus on
helping students at risk. Mr. Terry will be the temporary
teacher at the center. More details are attached to this
report.
This is a trial program. After about six months the results
of the program will be brought back to the SBM for final
approval. The trial program was approved.
Enrollment:2205 lucky students were enrolled in VHHS
on norm day, October 5. The highest number in years. Right
now 27% of the student body is bussed in.
Math Coach: Yvonne Mojica has been officially chosen
by District B to be our math coach. Yippee!
We may have a literacy coach by midyear.
PA and Internet should be done soon. We should develop
guidelines for the use of the PA. A meeting with the department
chairs will be scheduled soon and will work on this.
The new contract is very clear that teachers cannot summons
students from classes. Don't do it. Don't hold students
and make them late to other classes. It's in the contract.
High School exit exam; Necessary for a diploma for the
class of 2004. Our 9th graders did quite well. 50% passed
the English and 25% passed the math. The test will now
not be given till the 10th grade.
The new, improved Pep Rally was approved for November
2. Fire up!
