Tiffany Montgomery a.k.a. Ryan
Starr
Monday, October 7, 2002. Ryan
Starr (aka Tiffany Montgomery), Verdugo Hills HS
class of 2000, spent the summer on nationwide television
as a finalist on the hit television show "American
Idol," which aired on the FOX network twice a week
from June through September 2002.
Ryan was selected as one of the top ten best amateur singers
in America out of more than 10,000 who auditioned for the
show. The show finished its run as the number one rated
TV show of the summer and featured live performances each
week by the contestants. After each show, viewers across
the nation were allowed to call in by telephone and vote
for their favorites, with the lowest vote-getter being eliminated
each week. At its height, the show drew as many as 18 million
votes in a single night, and the final episode was watched
by an audience of 28 million viewers.

numerous offers from major record labels to record a CD
of her own songs, as well as several television and modelling
offers. She was featured on the cover of TV Guide,
and her photo has appeared in such publications as USA
Today, US Weekly, People, Entertainment
Weekly, and Time Magazine. She has also been
seen coast-to-coast on nationally syndicated talk shows
like Live with Regis and Kelly, Good Morning America,
the Today show, MTV's TRL, and the Howard
Stern radio show, and is currently preparing for a national
singing tour with the other finalists from the show.
There is an unofficial website dedicated
to her from some of her fans, www.ryanstarr.us,
which students can visit for more information on Ryan's
accomplishments and future plans.
