Saturday, October 16, 1999 — Seniors Tiffany Montgomery and Teddy Tran were crowned Homecoming Queen and King, respectively, during the annual dance held for the first time on Keltner Glen.

Senior-class princesses and princes on the Homecoming Court included Missy Tuboly, Sam Perotti, Jennifer Lonsinger, Dieter Cortez, Stephanie Gossard and Joseph Torres.

Maria Perotti, Chris Aparicio, Cristy Avila, and Matt Fleming were the elected Juniors on the court. Mi Tran and Steven Vanover represented the sophomores, while Samantha Avila and Ryan Aguirre were the Freshman princess and prince.

The homecoming dance was attended by more than 600 students and alumni and was held, for the first time, outdoors on Keltner Glen. Student Leadership, which sponsored the event, arranged for a tent and dance floor to be erected over the grass area. Seating and refreshments were provided under the stars adjacent to the dance floor and on the senior lawn area.

The dance culminated a week-long series of events that included a Pep Rally, a week of games for Spirit Week, and the annual Homecoming football game and parade.

The Friday night football game saw the Verdugo Dons take on the Polytechnic High School Parrots. In mixed results before a crowd of several thousand students, parents and alumni, Verdugo's frosh/soph team bested the Parrots, 25-7, while the Poly upset the Dons varsity, 7-20.
