Press Release - Verdugo Hills High School

Dear Editor:

Three of Verdugo Hills High School's outstanding teachers have been awarded the 2005 Annual Teacher/Counselor Recognition Awards given by the Los Angeles Fulfillment Fund. The awards were presented at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood on June 11th at a Luncheon. Present also were the three VHHS students who wrote the letters of commendation to nominate these special teachers for recognition. The students wrote essays on how each teacher has profoundly affected their lives in a positive way.

Student Lanny Gov nominated English Department co-chair and Multi-Media Magnet Coordinator, Mr. David Riemer. Student Mamta Patel nominted Mrs. Diane DeBoer, the high school's College Counselor, and student Quen Vong wrote the recommendation essay to nominate Mr. Scott Kemple, a popular math and calculus teacher. All three award winners will receive a cash prize of $2,000 from the Fulfillment Fund.

Principal Cheryl Dellepiane states, "I believe this is the first year the three educators from the same school have won this prestigious award." In 2004, Verdugo's Leadership Teacher, Mr. Dino Stirpe, won a Fulfillment Fund Award."
