English as a Second Language (ESL)- ESL offers all levels of limited English proficient students an opportunity to improve their listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. Lessons focus on daily as well as pre-employment skills. Written and oral tests assist students with appropriate placement. Classes are available mornings (at our branch sites), afternoons, evenings and Saturdays.

ESL Literacy – This class builds a strong foundation for students to speak, read and write English, learn survival skills: money, calendar, time,
food, clothes, occupations, community locations, reading signs all in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
ESL Beginning Low – This course emphasizes oral language in the development of communicative competence for non-English-speaking adults. Listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills are integrated and presented in everyday contexts.
ESL Beginning High – This course develops communicative competence in listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in English for the immediate needs of limited-English-speaking adults. To develop these skills, a sequence of grammatical structures is integrated in the context of everyday situations.
ESL Intermediate Low – This course is designed to develop communicative competence in listening, speaking, reading, and writing for the immediate needs of adult English learners at the intermediate low level. A sequential grammatical structure base is integrated in the context of everyday life situations.
ESL Intermediate High/A – This course is designed to develop language proficiency in the four skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing for limited-English-speaking adults at the high intermediate level. Language skills are developed in the context of everyday life situations, with the goal of communicative competence.
ESL Intermediate High/B - This course is designed to develop language proficiency in the four skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing for limited-English-speaking adults at the high intermediate level. Language skills are developed in the context of everyday life situations, with the goal of communicative competence.
ESL Advanced Low – This course which develops advanced listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills has communicative competence as the primary goal. As part of this process, grammar is taught contextually, incorporated in life skills situations and other topic areas. The course is based on needs assessment of students. Review of competencies from previous levels is an integral part of the course.

Citizenship – This course provides students with information on aspects of American citizenship, including preparation for naturalization; important events in United States history; the Constitution and its historic background; study of the organization, powers, and duties of federal, state, and local governments; understanding and appreciation of American culture, institutions, and ideals; while developing the listening, reading, speaking, reading and writing skills of limited English-proficient students. Emphasis is placed on the privileges, duties, and responsibilities of citizens.
