The Story of Old Ms. Jolly
A long time ago there was a teacher by the name of, Ms.Jolly. This teacher was one of the sweetest teachers at what used to be called Lemona Ave Elementary. Now known as Sylvan Park. This teacher was always really nice to her students, she would do anything to keep her students happy. Ms.Jolly was a great teacher who loved children. But aside from loving her job, she also loved learning about nature. She loved to learn about plants and animals. She even had a favorite animal, the Owl. She loved seeing pictures of them because she thought they were so beautiful. And even had a toy owl that she kept at school to show to all her students.
One year in 1927 she got a class of fifth graders, who were too much for her to handle. Everyday they came in and were mean to her. One student in particular, would say things just to hurt her feelings, like "You're a bad teacher", then they would take her things and play keep away with her. And he would get everyone to tease her too. At those times the principal wasn't at school all the time. The principal had to take care of 2 or 3 schools at the same time so they couldn't just have a meeting with their parents or suspend anyone. So Ms.Jolly just tried to be calm and get control of the class, and would keep trying to teach her class as hard as she could. Everyday she would come to school and try to get those kids to change, and everyday they were mean to her and mistreated her.
Then one day Ms.Jolly came in and tried to start her class. When she asked the boy to do his work he, as usual ignored her. Ms.Jolly continued to insist that he does his work, but she was getting tired of his attitude. She thought at the beginning of the year that he would change and eventually listen to her. But it was almost the end of the school year and he didn't change, he was still as mean as ever.
This day, the boy decided he would play with Ms.Jolly's Toy owl. And while he was playing with it, he broke it. And he didn't feel bad at all. He was proud about breaking her toy. So that was the last straw. Ms.Jolly became very upset. She told her students, that because they were so mean to her they were all going to pay. She told the boy hat especially him, for breaking her toy, would have to live for eternity as an owl. The students looked at her and she was shaking, her eyes rolled back into her head, so all you could see were the white of her eyes. Then they saw the boy and the boy was shaking too, and saying that his stomach hurt. He was saying that he felt like if his insides were being taken out of his body. Everyone was so scared that they ran out of room 17 screaming, "she's a witch, she's a witch!" When they finally got a chance to tell another teacher what was happening. Everyone came back to the room and there was no one there. Ms.Jolly and the boy had disappeared, as well as the toy owl. Many people went out to search for them among the fields, but no one ever found a trace of where they could have gone. Ms. Jolly and the boy just vanished. And they were never heard from again.
However, still to this day. It is said that when students are disobeying the rules, the ghost of old Ms.Jolly still appears. And on warm summer mornings, while it is still dark out, there is said to be an owl soaring over our school. Doomed to stay and roam over Sylvan Park forever.
Along time ago, in 1974 a young man by the name of Jim Brown came to work at our School, Sylvan Park. This man loved Sylvan Park so much that he took care of it in many, many ways. Jim Brown was the school's Plant Manager (What Eric does today!!) He always made sure that everything was clean, and that the school was safe from anyone who might want to come in, while their was no one around. So what Mr.Brown decided to do was to live at the school. Jim made a very nice living area in the old kitchen in the auditorium. He put a small roll away bed in their, and was very comfortable. He was even able to cook for himself because there is a working stove and oven in there. So every day he would watch over Sylvan Park and protect it from harm. Jim Brown was always a very nice man. He retired in 1997, and because he was so dedicated, the same year he retired the school dedicated the auditorium in his honor. A few years later jim Brown passed away. Many say that the reason was that he missed the school so much, he died of a broken heart. So when he died he came back to the school to watch over it, just like when he was alive. So when your all alone in the auditorium, you can still here him working behind the curtain. But when you go back to look, there's no one around.
ERIC'S CLOSE ENCOUNTERS
Eric is our school's Plant Manager. He comes in to work at 6 o'clock in the morning. He is very dedicated because he almost never misses a day of work. Eric has been working at our school since 1999, that's almost 8 years. But since Eric started working here, he has seen many things that would make your hairs stand on end. One of the first things he encountered when he started working here, were voices. Eric would come into the school in the morning and as he passed the rooms in the hallway, Eric would hear voices. he would hear the voices of children playing in the classroom. When Eric would open the door in order to investigate, the voices would stop, and then they would go on to the next room. It was almost as if the children were playing with him.
