Math Coach
Joyce Kirsch
This is my 20th year with LAUSD, and for the last
4 years I have been the Math Coach at Sylvan Park Elementary School. Math
has always been fascinating, enjoyable, and exciting for me, and I love
sharing math with students and teachers, and helping make math accessible,
challenging and fun for everyone.
My education started in Brooklyn and Queens in
New York. When our family moved to California, I attended Chandler Elementary,
Sequoia Junior High, and Reseda High School. My college years included UCLA,
where I studied to be a teacher, and a year in Jerusalem at the Hebrew University.
I earned a BA and MA in Education.
On a personal note, I am married to Sheldon Kirsch.
My children are married; Daniel and Rachel have an 8 month old son, Benjamin;
and Aaron and Miriam are expecting a baby in August. I love spending time
with my family. When I have free time, I also enjoy swimming and reading.
