Literacy Coach

Barbara Mina

I am one of the Literacy Coaches at Sylvan Park. There are many parts of my job, but mainly I work with teachers to be sure our Sylvan Park students are taught a strong reading and language arts program. I've been at this school for twenty-two years. I've taught K, 1st, 2nd, and worked as a reading tutor, as well as a coach.

I moved to California with my husband and two children twenty-three years ago. I grew up in Buffalo, New York, got my university degree from the University of Buffalo, and a Masters Degree from the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York, where I began teaching.

My children are now grown up, so I have much more time to indulge my interests. I love to read (I'm in two book clubs), garden and travel. I've been around the world and hope to keep visiting new places.
