General School Rules
Students Will:
1. Respect the authority of teachers and all school employees.
2. Be respectful towards other students.
3. Respect personal property, including students' backpacks, and homework.
4. Respect school property, including school books, playground equipment, and other educational material
5. Stop all activities when the bell rings, wait for the whistle, and WALK to the class line.
6. Eat lunch and play in assigned areas.
7. Demonstrate good manners and appropriate behavior in the cafeteria and auditorium.
Students Will Not:
1. Bring toys, valuable jewelry, games, radios, or any other item not required by classroom use.
2. Fight, play rough, push or hit other students.
3. Use profane language and/or gestures.
4. Intimidate, extort, harass and/or do bodily harm to any person.
5. Trade or sell any items on the school grounds.
6. Throw any kind of paper, cans, or other forms of litter on school grounds or on bathroom floors. This includes spitting on the floor.
7. Perform any acts of prejudice or hate such as teasing, name calling, violence, harassment, or threats.
ZERO TOLERANCE
Any acts of severe conduct in violation of Ca Ed. Code 48900 is punishable by suspension from class, school and/or expulsion. Severe conduct includes:
1. Caused, attempted to cause, or threatened to cause physical injury to another person.
2. Possessed, sold, or furnished any firearm, knife, explosive or other dangerous object.
3. Possessed, used, or been under the influence of any controlled substance.
4. Unlawfully offered, negotiated, or sold a controlled substance or intoxicant of any kind.
5. Caused or attempted to cause damage to school or personal property.
6. Stolen or attempted to steal school or private property.
7. Committed or attempted to commit extortion.
8. Committed an obscene act or engaged in habitual profanity or vulgarity.
9. Possess objects commonly associated with drugs.
10. Willfully defied the valid authority of school personnel or disrupted school activities.
11. Knowingly received stolen school property or private property.
12. Possessed an imitation firearm.
13. Committed or attempted to commit a sexual assault or committed a sexual battery.
14. Harassed, threatened, or intimidated another person.
15. Possessed or used tobacco or nicotine containing products.
Level 1 Behaviors to be handled in class: 1. Off -task behavior 2. Not following directions 3. Running in the hallway 4. Not keeping hands, feet and /or objects to yourself (ie. play fighting, pushing in line, fighting that is brief, that is ceased with an adult) 5. Disruptive behaviors 6. Refusal to do work |
Consequences in classroom: 1. Warning given the first time 2.Time out with behavioral journal 3. Loss of privileges (class or yard) 4. Phone call to parents or note sent home/behavior card |
Positive Reinforcement in classroom: 1. Encouraging Words 2. Team/Table Points 3. Positive letters sent home. 4. Positive phone calls to parents 5. Positive Recognition in classroom 6. Allow students the opportunity to redeem themselves. 7. Positive Behavior Cards |
Level 2 may warrant an office referral 1. When all consequences from Level 1 have been exhausted 2. Fighting that continues after adult intervention 3. Blatant defiance or disrespect 4. Inappropriate language 5. Forgery of any type 6. Walking out of class 7. Stealing |
Consequences: 1.May include consequences from Level 1 2. Parent conference with teacher & administrator 3. Suspension from classroom (handled by teacher) 4. Suspension from school (handled administratively) |
Positive Reinforcement School-wide: 1. Student of the Month 2. Caught Being Good tickets 3. Public recognition of classroom 4. Lunch at the park 5. Positive Behavior Card with reward from an administrator 6. Phone call home to praise the child and parents for a job well done. |
Level 3 Zero Tolerance Must warrant an office referral 1. Inappropriate touching 2. Destruction of school property 3. Sexual harassment 4. Bringing a knife, imitation gun, or other dangerous object to school or anything that can be used as a weapon. 5. Any conduct outlined in zero tolerance. |
Consequences: 1.May include consequences from Level 1 & 2 2. Expulsion 3. Notification to appropriate authorities 4. Opportunity Transfer |
