   The LMC is a vital place. It is continually growing and changing in response to patrons needs and interests. The staff is here to serve academic and personal needs. The LMT and practice students will teach patrons how to access this information in both traditional and new ways.

 

Print Materials

Books

The Library contains books and reference material that support the curriculum, special interests, and pleasure reading. Available are high interest and low reading level materials. Our fiction collection supports the Accelerated Reader Program. There are also books in languages other than English. 

 

Magazines

The LMC has many popular magazine titles, including an extensive collection of full text magazine articles from the SIRS DATABASE.

 

Newspapers

The Los Angeles Times and The Daily News are available for use within the LMC.

 

Electronic Media

Online Information

The LMC has twenty computers with Internet access.  Students with an “Acceptable Use Permit” on file, have permission to use Internet resources.  Visit the Reseda High School LMC Web site at resedahighschool.com for links to dozens of search engines and curriculum-focused web sites including fun sites for kids, homework help, and lesson plans developed by universities throughout the United States.

To develop successful library class visits, Ms. Futoran will be pleased to help you integrate the LMC resources with your subject and grade level curriculum.

 

Book Exchange

Been spending a fortune on the latest best sellers?  Ms. Futoran invites you to join in the development of an exchange program in the LMC. Visit the LMC and swap a good book. Take your time with the book, there are no due dates – just bring in your old books to swap with others.

 

Student Publishing and Displays

Share individual student work with the entire student body. Teachers are invited to display student projects, including written assignments in the LMC.

 

Admittance

During class time, students with assignments are admitted with an official, school pass signed by the teacher.  There is a limit of five students per teacher per period.  Students may freely use library before or after school and during lunch and nutrition.

Substitute teachers may not send or bring students.

 

Circulation

General reading books: 1 book for 2 weeks

Fines: 10 cents per day late

Reference books: Library use only

Special Magazines: Overnight only

Special Reference/Reserve books: Overnight only

Fines: 10 cents per period for overnight materials

 

In order to check out a book or use computers, students must present their I.D. cards to the desk attendant.  Teachers may check out materials for three weeks.  Library records for teachers must be cleared at the end of the semester.

 

Library Etiquette

The library is a place for studying, doing research or checking out books.  Students are asked to be respectful and considerate of other library users.  Use six-inch voices.
