STUDENT ACTIVITIES

Students at Shirley Avenue Elementary participate in many activities put together by the student council. One of those activities is crazy hat day. It is when the students wear silly hats to school. Mismatched clothing day is another activity where the students have to wear clothes that don't match. Recently there was a carnival sponsored by the PTSA. There were games, food, prizes, and a lot of fun. Another favorite activity was student/teacher day. This is when the students in the council take over the teachers position. They play teachers for the day. This year the fifth grade class just came from a trip to Washington D.C. The fourth grade class came from a trip to Clear Creek. Every couple of months the council organizes a newsletter for students to enjoy. The school has also participated in many charities like the canned food drive for the United Way. They will also be honoring Leechman High School for coming and cleaning up Shirley.
