SEVENTH GRADE MATH

Sixth grade students will be evaluated at the end of the year to determine their 7th grade math placement.  Sixth grade teachers will make recommendations based on math course grades, score on the Algebra readiness test, and work habits and cooperation grades.  All seventh grade math courses are aligned with the state math standards.

Pre-Algebra  7AB

Students will review basic math skills and will study rational and irrational numbers as applied to algebraic concepts, equations, and problem solving.

Algebra I AB

Students will learn mathematical symbols and properties, and be able to apply them to equations and problem solving in one and two variables, polynomial products and factoring, inequalities and absolute value open sentences, linear and quadratic functions and graphs, and radicals.  This course meets the college entrance requirement for Algebra.

EIGHTH GRADE MATH 7th grade teachers based on the students’ success in their 7th grade math course.  All courses are aligned with the state math standards.

Algebra 1AB

Students will learn mathematical symbols and properties, and be able to apply them to equations and problem solving in one and two variables, polynomial products and factoring, inequalities and absolute value open sentences, linear and quadratic functions and graphs, and radicals.  This course meets the college entrance requirement for Algebra.

Geometry AB

Advanced students will study the structure of geometry as a mathematical system.  The course includes such topics as deductive and inductive reasoning and proofs, line and angle relationships, circles, congruent and similar polygons, construction and loci, area of polygons, area and volume of solid figures, coordinate geometry, and right triangle trigonometry.  This course meets the college entrance requirement for Geometry.
