MONTHLY AWARDS ASSEMBLY –Our assembly will be on Thursday, May 3, 2012. K & 1st at 8:20 AM,, 2nd & 3rd at 9:15 AM, 4th & 5th at 10:30 AM.

TESTING IS HERE - We will begin our state testing May 7 to May 18, 2012. Please have your child at school ON TIME each day. We try to begin testing at 8:30 so students are fresh. If your child arrives late, she/he is not able to begin the test with the other students. Please do not schedule appointments for the mornings during the testing days. If you need to remove your child from school for a part of the day, please do so in the afternoon.

NEW ENROLLMENTS FOR NEXT YEAR - If your child will be 5 by November 1, 2012, please come to the office for an enrollment packet. To complete the enrollment, your child must have a birth certificate and all immunizations. For parents who wish to request teachers for enrolled students for the 2012-2013 school year, Parent Requests will not be accepted due to the severe district budget cuts.

PTA NEEDS YOUR HELP - As we plan for the next school year, the PTA Board will need to elect new officers. They need your help. Please come to the Association meeting on May 3, 2012 at 2:40 PM in the auditorium. On May 17, 2012 we will have our elections for our PTA board memebers at 2:40 PM in the auditorium. We need YOU. Without our active and willing parents, we cannot continue to provide for all of the extra activities. PLEASE JOIN US.

SPIRIT WEEK - Our PTA has tentatively planned Plainview Spirit Week from 5/21 to 5/25– Monday is Hawaiian Day, Tuesday is –Super Hero Day, Wednesday is Pajama Day , Thursday is Crazy Clothes/Crazy Hat Day, and Friday is Western Day.

PLAINVIEW YEAR BOOK – Pre-order for Plainview Yearbook has ended. The school will only print a certain amount of yearbooks based on prepaid year books and few extra copies. If you did not pre-order the yearbook, the school may not have extra copies. Check with the office to purchase a yearbook. The price is $19.25, cash only please.

OPEN HOUSE – Thursday, May 31, 2012 is Open House. G.A.T.E. meeting will be in the Auditorium at 5:00 pm. Special Education meeing will be at 5:30 in Room 30. Classroom visists from 6:00 to 7:00 PM.

SAFETY OF YOUR CHILD - Please discuss with your child the importance of not approaching strangers or even getting close enough that they could be grabbed. In addition, it is unsafe for your child to meet you in front of the school any later than 10 minutes after dismissal. THE UPPER AREA OF THE SCHOOL IS NOT VISIBLE FROM THE OFFICE. INSTRUCT YOUR CHILD TO GO TO THE PLAYGROUND TO WAIT FOR YOU IF YOU DO NOT ARRIVE AT DISMISSAL TIME. Please, do not walk your child down the north driveway in the morning. All staff cars are entering the school using that ramp. The sidewalk on the north side is much safer. The side ramp by the cafeteria is for employees only. Parents should not use that ramp to drive to the playground in the afternoon.

SUMMER SCHOOL – The district will not be offering summer school to general education students. In preparation for the summer, please check with your local libraries, community centers, and parks and recreation centers to enroll your child in various activities.

HEAVY MEDAL FRIDAYS – Plainview instituted Heavy Medal Fridays for everyone who has ever earned a medal. Celebrate the efforts and accolades by wearing the medals every Friday. We want to show off our accomplishments and this is a great way to let everyone show off their awards. Encourage your child to win medals by doing well in school.

CHANGE OF 2011-2012 CALENDAR - The district has shortened the 11-12 school year. As of now, school will be closed on May, 28, 2012 and the last day for students will be June 19, 2012. School will be closed from June 22-July 19, 2012. The office will be opened on July 23, 2012 for enrollment.

SCHOOL PHONE NOTIFICATION SYSTEM – The school occasionally sends notifications and reminders out via telephone through LAUSD’s automated system. If you have a new cell phone number, or changed your land line, please notify the office staff to update your phone number in the district’s central information system.

PREMIOS MENSUALES ASAMBLEA-Nuestra asamblea será el Jueves, 03 de mayo 2012. K & primero a las 8:20 AM,, segundo y tercero a las 9:15 AM, 4 y 5 a las 10:30 AM.

PRUEBA ESTÁ AQUÍ - Vamos a comenzar nuestro examen estatal 7 mayo-18 mayo 2012. Por favor, pídale a su hijo en la escuela a tiempo cada día. Tratamos de comenzar las pruebas a las 8:30 para que los estudiantes esten despieto. Si su hijo llega tarde, él / ella no es capaz de iniciar la prueba con los otros estudiantes. Por favor, no programar citas para las mañanas durante los días de prueba. Si necesita sacar a su hijo a la escuela por parte de la jornada, por favor hágalo por la tarde.

Nuevas inscripciones para el próximo año – tiene la edad de cinco años para noviembre del 2012, por favor venga a la oficina de un paquete de inscripción. Para los padres que deseen solicitar los maestros para los estudiantes matriculados para el año escolar 2012-2013, peticiones de los padres no serán aceptados debido a los recortes presupuestarios del distrito.

PTA necesita su ayuda - Al planear para el próximo año escolar, la Junta de la PTA tendrá que elegir a los nuevos funcionarios. Ellos necesitan su ayuda. Semana del Espíritu - Nuestro PTA ha planeado tentativamente la Semana del Espíritu para Plainview del 5/21 al 5/25- lunes es el Día de Hawai, el martes día-Super Héroe, el miércoles es Día de Pijamas, jueves es día Sombrero Loco o Ropa loca , y el viernes es el Día de vaqueros.

LIBRO PLAINVIEW AÑO - Pre-ordenar a Plainview Anuario ha terminado. La escuela sólo se imprimirá una cierta cantidad de anuarios basada en los libros al año pagados por anticipado y pocas copias adicionales. Si no ha pre-ordenar el libro del año, la escuela no puede tener copias adicionales. Verifique con la oficina para comprar un anuario. El precio es de 19,25 dólares, sólo en efectivo por favor.

CASA ABIERTA - Jueves, 31 de mayo 2012 es de puertas abiertas. G.A.T.E. reunidos en el Auditorio a las 5:00 pm. Educación Especial repartiendo a las 5:30 en la Sala 30. Visists clase de 6:00 a 7:00 pm.

SEGURIDAD DE SU HIJO - Por favor, hable con su hijo la importancia de no acercarse a extraños o incluso acercarse lo suficiente de que podrían ser agarrado. Además, no es seguro para su hijo que le reúnen en frente de la escuela más tarde de las 10 minutos después de la salida. La zona alta de LA ESCUELA NO ES VISIBLE DE LA OFICINA, Enséñele a ir al patío a esperar a que SI NO LLEGAN A la hora de salida. Por favor, no caminar a su hijo por la entrada norte de la mañana. Todos los vehículos del personal están entrando en la escuela por la rampa. La acera en el lado norte es mucho más seguro. La rampa lateral por la cafetería es sólo para empleados. Los padres no deben utilizar la rampa para conducir al patio de recreo de la tarde.

ESCUELA DE VERANO - El distrito no ofrecerá escuela de verano para estudiantes de educación general. En preparación para el verano, por favor consulte con sus bibliotecas, centros comunitarios y parques y centros recreativos para inscribir a su niño en diversas actividades.

VIERNES de Medalla - Plainview instituido viernes pesados Medalla para todos los que ha ganado una medalla. Celebra los esfuerzos y los elogios de usar las medallas de todos los viernes. Queremos mostrar nuestros logros y esto es una gran manera de que todo el mundo muestran sus premios. Anime a su hijo para ganar medallas por hacer bien en la escuela.

CAMBIO DE CALENDARIO 2011-2012 - El distrito se ha acortado la escuela 11-12. A partir de ahora, la escuela estará cerrada en mayo, 28, 2012 y el último día para los estudiantes será 19 de junio 2012. La escuela estará cerrada del 22 junio a 19 julio, 2012. La oficina se abrirá el 23 de julio de 2012 para la inscripción.
