San Buenaventura Mission
The mission that I am studying the San Buenaventura Mission. This mission was founded on March 31,1782 The man who founded San Buenaventura is Father Serra. Is located on Highway 101 in the City of Ventura.This mission is the ninth nission.This mission has a special meaning because it named after Saint Bonaventura. This mission has irrigation provided by a seven mile long aqueduct that brought water to the mission from the Ventura River.Three years later the earthquake of 1812 severely damaged the church but it was quickly fixed. The friendly Chumash Indians were happy to live at the mission.The Indians at mission San Buenaventira built the mile aqueduct to bring water to the mission from the mountains.This allowed the production of many types of fruits, grains, and vegetables.This irrigation helped the cropsi to grow.
Mission Santa Clara De Asis
I am studying Mission Santa de Asis. Father Junipero Serra founded the mission. The mission was founded on January 12, 1771. The mission was located in Santa Clara College of the Almedian, in the City of Santa Clara Asis.
My mission number is the 8th. It was named for Saint Clara of Asis. On their land they had many tribe mission had been damaged. Their was a flood after the severe earthquake in 1981. The adobe church stood for 34 years.
The Spaniards had moved into the mission. The founding was in 1777. On the mission land the children died from an epidemic of measles. They grew corn. The mission had great things on their land. The Indians were known for their weaving .
Mission San Gabriel
The mission I am studying is San Gabriel. The person who founded the mission is Father Pedro. The mission was founded in September 8, 1771. The mission is located on Junipero Street on the west side of the city of San Gabriel. The San Gabriel mission is the fourth of the twenty-one missions founded by the Spanish.
The mission is special because it is named for Archangel Gabriel. One of the missions unique qualities is it was a place for people who were weary from long and difficult traveling in need of food and temporary shelter. The mission was not damaged but the bell tower was fixed in 1812. The people who lived at the mission are the Gabrielino tribe. The daily life on the mission was good because the people planted crops of wheat and corn. The Native Americans enjoyed the mission because they ate well. The Indians grew food like crops and corn. The other interesting facts I learned was that the mission was built after the earthquake. The Indians used stone implements to pound the wheat and corn into flour.
Mission San Gabriel
The Mission that I am studying is San Gabriel Archangel. The people who founded the mission were, Father Pedro Carbon and father Angel Somers. The mission was founded on September 8,1771. The mission is Located on, Juniper street and West Union Drive in the City of San Gabriel. Of all the Twenty-one missions founded by the Spanish, this mission is the most active. The name of my mission means Archangel Gabriel.
The mission was damaged by an earthquake and it was fixed in 1812. The Indians live on the mission of San Gabriel. The daily life at the mission was not good, because there was a flood in the mission. The mission grew corn and trees. The interesting facts I've learned about my mission is that they rebuiled the place and it was beautiful.
