The math classes have for the past several years been
creating tesselations for entry in the Dale Seymour
Publications Tesselations Contest. Tesselations are
seamlessly tilable patterns created from a basic
geometric grid; they have been popularized most
significantly by the mind-bending works of M. C. Escher.
The tesselations are an impressive testament to both the
creativity and the geometric ingenuity required to create
these fascinating tiles.
The above tesselation is by Melissa Ramirez. It was a
National Winner in the 1994 contest.
