Miramonte Elementary School has a state-of-the-art 31 station Macintosh computer lab.  School wide our ratio is 3 students to each computer, which exceeds the state?s goal.  Our school is completely wired for Internet access and is currently undergoing a system upgrade.  Each classroom and office is having sufficient power dropped in to handle the additional amounts of technology that have been added to Miramonte in the last several years.  In addition, we are nearly completing an upgrade of system software to bring our computer system up to industry standards.

Ours school is primarily a Macintosh environment.  However we do have a little over 50 IBM machines that support the Waterford Early Reading Program.   This program is available to our Kindergarten and First grade students.  All classrooms have access to Orchard, a language arts and math program that assesses students skills, prescribes a course of study and tests for mastery.  This program accommodates grades Kindergarten through Sixth grade.

In conjunction with our computer system, our staff and students have access to digital photography, scanning, cable television, electronic microscopes, and a digital library.

Our goal this year is to integrate technology into the classroom as an additional tool for learning.  For our younger students, technology will be used to reinforce those beginning level language skills and for our older students the focus will be more on research and writing.

Please feel free to visit our lab at anytime.  Just stop by the main office for a visitor's pass.

Sincerely,
Your Computer Staff
