Welcome to Miramonte
Elementary School.
My name is Richard Lopez and I am the Principal of the school. It
is my pleasure to serve the students, the staff and the community that works
at or lives in the attendance area of Miramonte Elementary
School. I started my tenure here on
October 23, 2000, after having been selected by the School Based Management
Committee.
So that you may know a little about me, I will give you some of my
background. I was born and raised in San Francisco, California
and am a product of the Public School system. My undergraduate work was
done at the University of California at Berkeley.
My teaching credential was earned at the University of San
Francisco along with my masters Degree in
Multicultural Education. My administrative credentials and second
Masters Degree were earned at California
State University
at Los Angeles.
I have taught 1st, 3rd, 5th and 6th grades and have been a Reading
Resource Teacher, A Bilingual Coordinator and an advisor for the Personnel
Division. I have worked in administrative positions since 1987.
My personal goal for the school is to transform it into a learning center for
the entire community. I would like to see Miramonte Elementary
School become a focal point in the community
and a place that everyone can be proud of; therefore, all members of the
community are welcome to Miramonte and are invited to participate in the
education for our students. We believe that the boys and girls that
attend our school are very capable and can achieve incredible success.
It is the job of the school to not only provide a high quality relevant
instruction, but to also motivate our students to perform to the best of
their ability so they may become responsible global citizens and life long
learners. Miramonte Elementary with the support of the community,
teachers, and other staff can fulfill its obligation of providing a high
quality education to our students so that they may experience endless
opportunities for success in the future.
