Tobacco use is responsible for the deaths of more Californians than any other preventable
cause of death and disease today. At Manual we
  • Target current smokers and students most at risk for beginning to use tobacco.
  • Offer or refer students to cessation classes for current smokers.
  • Utilize existing anti-smoking resources, including local anti-smoking efforts by local lead agencies and competitive grant recipients.

Activities

Ongoing activities include

  • Inviting guest speakers (i.e. a larengectomy patient) to share their experiences
  • Conducting assemblies throughout the year, including plays and musical presentations, on TUPE.
  • Dispay posters and materials aim at educating the student body on the dangers of smoking.
