Description of Project

Under a grant from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting awarded in 1997 to encourage the infusion of technology into the curriculum, tenth and eleventh-grade Integrated Science students from West Torrance High School in the Torrance Unified School District have been working during the 1997-98 school year with eleventh-grade English students at Manual Arts High School in Los Angeles Unified School District on an interdisciplinary problem-based project that involves research, inter-school communication via e-mail and teleconferencing, creative production and publication on the World Wide Web, as well as social action. Students from both the secondary credential and the computer-based education programs at California State University, Dominguez Hills, worked as tutors on this project.
