Students write a scientific paper in which they compare
the results they get from a "virtual fly" lab investigation
with the results they get from a "wet" (actual) heredity lab
investigation. The same genetic crosses are observed in both
and described in both the virtual and actual
investigations.

Students are assessed according to this rubric:
- Does the title of the paper accurately describe what
was done--a comparison of virtual and actual hereditary
crosses in fruit flies?
- Does the abstract provide a brief, complete, and
attractive description of the investigation?
- Does the introduction provide background information
on heredity, fruit-fly genetics, and computer modeling of
hereditary crosses?
- Does the section on materials and methods list all
necessary materials and equipment necessary to repeat the
procedure?
- Does it describe the protocol in such detail that
another investigator could follow that procedure and
expect the get similar results?
- Are the results described? Are "Punnett Square"
tables for both virtual and actual investigations
included? Are the results clear and reasonable?
