DESCRIPTION |
The Magnet is structured as a school within a school. All students take a rigorous college preparatory curriculum which includes Advanced Placement offerings in ten subjects. The Magnet functions to prepare students for success at the university. Top Magnet Scholars have been accepted at prestigious universities around the United States (e.g. MIT, Princeton, Dartmouth, Brown, Cornell, Northwestern, Pomona, Middlebury, Occidental, etc.) while many students have opted to take advantage of the University of California and California State University educational systems. The Magnet is affiliated with the University of Southern California which is several blocks away. |

CURRICULUM |
The Magnet Program consists of 360 students, grades 9 through 12, fourteen teachers in the academic areas of English, Foreign Language, History-Social Science, Math, and Science. Other areas taught are English as a Second Language and Art History. |

PROGRAMS WITHING THE CPM |
Other programs within the umbrella of the CP Magnet Program are the Academy of Finance Program, The Liberal Arts and Sciences Academy, and the Mathematics, Engineering and Science Achievement Program (MESA), which encourages students to prepare for a career in one of the above fields by providing special activities, contests, and incentive rewards for participants |
