eScrip

Program description from Lomita PTA News, March 2001

We now have a WONDERFUL fund-raiser program called eScrip. The eScrip program is a revolutionary fundraising program that allows participating merchants to contribute a percentage of your grocery loyalty cards, credit card, and debit/ATM card purchases to this school. (An application and a list of merchants is available in the office.) The way this program works is as follows:

Supporters register any or all of their existing debit and credit cards for use in the program (or just your VONS Club card).

Participating national, regional and local merchants will make contributions to enrolled organizations, based on purchases made by supporters, who use their registered debit and credit cards. The eScrip program continually contracts new merchants. By using the registered cards at participating merchants, supporters generate donations based on a percentage of purchases as determined by each merchant or service provider.

Every month the enrolled organizations receive all merchant contributions made on behalf of all participants, as well as a summarized report listing supporters, merchants, and contributions amounts. Electronic Scrip Incorporated (ESI) is a California-based corporation dedicated to establishing relationships between commerce and community-to provide resources to organizations and projects that support our children. To give you an example: Based on only 50 supporters who spend an average of $400/mo. on merchants based on 5% average merchant donation, the total to OUR school is $12,000!!!

There is an annual application fee of $10.00. Often eScrip offers incentives (i.e. gift certificates) that will neutralize the fee. (Notificaton pending upon offers by eScrip). Please go by the office and pick up a form to get you started or you can sign up on the Internet at www.escrip.com. Our group ID# 5534589.
