ONLINE PROJECTS Throughout the year we will be using this site to access class projects which use the Internet as a resource. Some of these projects are WebQuests. In a WebQuest the teacher has designed an inquiry-based activity in which most of the information used by the learners comes from the Web. However, the teacher has researched the sites in advance of the project so that students spend time utilizing the information rather than looking for it |

Many
authors and screenwriters choose real-world controversies on which to
construct their stories. When we start this project students have read
the play Let Me Hear You Whisper by Paul Zindel and seen the movie Project
X. Both works have a strong emotional appeal. In the panel presentation students demonstrate that the issues surrounding animal research are much more complex in real life than in fiction. The goal is for students to keep in mind the lessons of complexity and viewpoint they have learned from this Web Quest as they read other works based on real-world controversies |

In
this WebQuest I have tried to provide my students with a structured environment
for producing a multimedia production. I want their documentaries to show
evidence of thoughtful planning, be well-designed and effectively presented.
However, in this mediacentric age where productions are often enjoyable
but empty, I wanted to ensure that student projects demonstrate educational
content. I have tried to anticipate points in the process where students
will need scaffolding and guidance. |
