PAPER MAKING

Egyptians used papyrus to make paper. They usually got the papyrus from the Nile River. Before the papyrus, Egyptians used clay to write on . The Egyptians wrote on papyrus,which was made from papyrus needs. A papyrus was made by peeling off the outer layer of the triangular stem. Then it would be sliced into strips. Afterward, it was spread on slab with more strips on top, and at right angles. The sap bonded the layers into sheets. A. When the papyrus paper sheets dried , they were pasted together into a long roll. To write on papyrus,a scribe would dip a reed pen in water and root it over a piece of charcoal to make ink. For important documents,the Egyptians also wrote on moistened clay tablets with a reed pen.
