LAND RESOURCES
Less than 10% of the land area of Egypt is settled. The territory consists of the valley and a number of desert oasis. And more than 90% of the country of Egypt consists of desert areas, including the Libyan desert. This desert borders the red sea and the gulf of Suez. The Nile enters Egypt from Sudan and flows for about 1345 km(10 ml) across at its widest point. Much of the Arabian desert occupies Egypt. Its' plateau rises gradually from the Nile valley to an elevation of about 610m.(about 2000 ft.) in the east and is broken along the red sea coast by gagged peaks as high as 2135m.(about 200 ft.) above sea level.
The summers of Egypt are not humid, since temperatures reach 100 degrees c (38 degrees c). All of the annual rain falls from virtually nothing in the desert, to about eight inches in the Nile delta. In the spring, the khamasiln, is a hot dusty driving wind that blows all around. The climate in Egypt is characterized by a hot season from May to September and a cool season from November to March. In the coastal region temperatures change between a mean maximum of 37.2 cc99 degrees and a mean of 13.9 degrees (57.f).
