GEOGRAPHY

Egypt is on the northeastern coast of Africa. In Egypt they have the longest river in the world. It is over 4,000 miles long. The water goes through short, narrow channels. The water travels real fast and it rushes and has waterfalls. Ancient Egypt was the long narrow country located on the corner of Africa. The river split into many fan-shaped channels at the top of the mouth at the end of the river.

At the end of the year, the Nile River overflows the banks and floods the valley. The northern area includes the Nile Delta. It was once called lower Egypt because of the elevation. The first cataract and the Nile flow north for about 600 miles. The Nile has six places which have winding courses and stone cliffs, boulders force its waters through narrow, channels. The first cataract is by the southern part of Egypt. The Nile is Egypt's lifeline. Without the land there would be mostly desert. It flows as a single river. Just as south of what it is today Cairo
