ENTERTAINMENT
Long ago in Egypt the entertainment consisted of play and other things. The Egyptian workers worked very hard. Sometimes the workers worked eight days in a row, so they would have two days off afterwards. On those two days off, the workers spent much of their spare time very actively. The workers would hunt and dance. They even played athletic games, like wrestling. They played ball games and acrobatics. The rich people held sumptuous dinner parties, guests were entertained by acrobats and musicians. The board games were popular and Senet was the favorite. The children played with wooden balls and tops as well as dolls and carved wooden animals. Some of the Egyptian toys had moving parts.
JEWELRY
The goldsmith and lapidary were the creators of fine jewelry. For Khnumet, a princess of the 12th dynasty, they wove a diadem of delicate beauty. The wreath blends hues of semiprecious stones. When stiff winds tousled their hair, they wove weeds into head bands. To Khnumet, also, belonged this pendant. Its rosettes and stars are embellished by granulations of many different stones.
