Managing the Project

Milestone One CHOOSE A TOPIC, One Day

Introduce the unit to your students. Briefly cover the highlights but do not go into detail. Present your sample product so students will know what is expected. If students need information about the topic, refer them to their text book or other materials you have gathered in advance. Teams choose their topics.

Topics are reserved on a first come, first reserved basis.
No two teams have the same topic.

Milestone Two RESEARCH AND PLANNING, 2 to 5 days

Students research their project Students make a story board of the project and present it to you.
Check for concepts and content to ensure the topic is covered to your satisfaction.
Look for Òkey ideasÓ and illustrations

Milestone Three FIRST DRAFT, 2 to 7 days

Confirm the project covers critical concepts to your satisfaction
Encourage well presented quality

Milestone Four EDITING AND REVISING, 1 to 3 days

Have projects reviewed by other adults and students.
Look for revision marks on printouts of draft.
Look for revisions in final draft

Milestone Five CLASS PRESENTATIONS, 3 to 10 days
