HOWTO:
Recording Student AUP Release Data on Student ID Cards
Jefferson H.S. Technology Committee,
June 15, 2000.
First, require that all students return the signed LAUSDnet Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) forms and that parents give permission. Set a 100% return rate as your goal, then you can assume all students will have access to the Internet. The student ID cards can then be printed with a phrase "AUP=Yes" to allow that student to use a networked computer.
All students get an AUP release form in Homeroom at the beginning of the year.
Students return the form and an SIS clerk records the result. The from then goes into the student CUM folder.
On the SIS system, use ID 01 and field #246, Internet Access Allowed....Yes or No.
Coordinate with the company that prints the student ID cards to make sure that the AUP phrase is printed on the card, AUP=YES or NO.
Students can then use their ID card around campus
to access networked computers. See creating student
accounts for using their 4 digit ID # as their account name.
NOTE: In order to work with SIS data you must
get the prior approval of the Principal and the SIS Coordinator, and sign
a confidentiality form which states that you will not use student data
for any commercial or inappropriate means.
