HOWTO: Web Link Page for Teacher Directories
Use these links when creating pages in your teacher directory. Using the correct linking schemes will ensure that your pages and images load on the Internet site, and the school Intranet site. You may have to edit your pages with a text editor if you find that Netscape Composer or Frontpage is not retaining the correct links. Please contact K. Ballash if you have any questions about naming the links for your web site. Do this BEFORE you create your teacher site. We can create a template for you with all the correct links. Here is a generic template that you simply copy and paste your text into the center of the document.
- Jefferson HS home page (Internet or Intranet). Links should point to "../../index.htm"
- Your Department main page. Links should point to "../../larts.htm", (check the name of your dept. file)
- Your Department Staff page. Links should point to "../../lartch.htm", (check your dept. staff page name).
- Your home page in your directory. Links should point to "index.htm" , assuming that is what you named your main page. This is the recommended home page file name for any directory.
- Commonly using graphics such as the Jefferson H.S. home page image. Links should point to <img src="./images/jeff_demo.jpg" alt="Democrat mascot" style="width: 90px; height: 97px;" hspace="8">
The file names for each page should be kept short, with no spaces and all lower case letters. So for example "soccer team.htm" should be shortened to "soc_tm.htm". Use the underscore symbol, not the dash.

Again, name your home page in your directory "index.htm". All pages should link back to this page.
