ISIS (Integrated Student Information System) FAQs

You will need to have your LAUSD email/Internet account working and know how to use a web browser.  See also skills you will need before you start training for ISIS.

ANSWERS

  1. Windows or Macintosh computers will work that have an Internet connection and can run a 128 bit encrypted web browser such as Internet Explorer 5.5,  Mozilla, Firefox, Netscape 7.x and above, Opera, and Safari. For example, a PC with Windows 95 and IE 5.5 will work with the web browser based ISIS program, including LAUSD ePals email and the Welligent IEP system.
  2. You need your LAUSD (ePals) account to log in and access ISIS from the network. You launch a web browser such as Mozilla, Netscape or Internet Explorer. You access the ISIS web site. Log in with your LAUSD account. Then your classes will be available once you are authenticated as the teacher.
  3. You need to be able to: type in and access a web address, url,  such as http://isis.lausd.net, navigate forwards and backwards to pages, scroll up and down and sideways to get full views of pages, save and submit each page, determine what is linked text and symbols and what is not linked, enter data in a web page by checking boxes, buttons, and typing in text boxes.
  4. Yes, you will need to log in with your LAUSD account and record and submit attendance every period.
  5. LAUSD is working on the security features so that you can log in using a non-LAUSDnet Internet Service such as Earthlink, AOL, various DSL providers, cable access providers, and other broadband providers. So you will be able to log in at home, from libraries and from other businesses with Internet access and work on  your ISIS online grade book.
  6. Yes, this is one of the major project goals of ISIS.
