LAUSD Student Internet and ePal Accounts

YOUR EMAIL ACCOUNT

https://epals.lausd.k12.ca.us/

The only information that  you need to access your web-based ePal email is your LAUSDnet username, which is usually your three initials followed by the last 3 or 4 numbers on your 10 digit student ID (see you ID card). For example, a student named Jose Garcia might have a username of jxg151, all lowercase.  The initial password is the student's 6 digit birthdate (DOB).

Username: jxg151  Password: 011389
You can change that when you log in to any password with at least 6 characters. User numbers and letters to create a more secure password. Remember it. You will be charged $1.00 to create a new password.

Make sure to log into the LAUSDnet ePals web page (https://epals.lausd.k12.ca.us/), not epals.com. EPals.com is the generic, nationwide web site that does NOT provide free Internet access with the email account for LAUSD students.

See also Getting started with the ePal email system on how to use the basic email features.

INTERNET ACCESS

http://techsupport.lausd.net/lausdnet_setup.htm

The LAUSDnet student account, also provides Internet access from home to any student with a computer, modem, and phone line. Students log in with the same username and password as the email/ePals account. The directions for configuring Internet access at home can be found on the LAUSDnet web site> Employees> Tech Help> Dial-up instructions.

The local access numbers are available in the 213 and 310 area codes.

Any computer with Windows 95 on up will already have all the necessary dial-up, web browser (Internet Explorer), and email software. Set up your dial-up software for more than one phone number. Of course students can download and/or install other Internet compliant software such as Mozilla or Firefox  if they wish. You can photocopy any of  these instructions in the library for 10 cents per page.
