The Jefferson Golf Team
Jefferson High has a golf team! Members are chosen by having a strong interest in golf. The team was established by coach Nitahara three years ago. The team consists of sixteen members who meet at lunch and after school. Our outings usually involve golf play at various courses in Los Angeles, Chester Washington, Alondra Park and Jack Thompson.
The golf team has done well in competition. If you have a team and would like to have some fun competition, our club would welcome the opportunity.
Through the sponsership of the urban youth program, our club was able to visit the Calloway center for club making. It was great to see how "Big Beartha's" are made. It was a great trip on a limo bus too.
The Urban Youth Golf Program has provided our team with clubs, bags, and other golf equipment. They also pay for most of our expenses. These expenses are green fees, range balls and golf trips. Last year they invited us to the L.P.G.A. event at Oakmont country club. It was great to visit a wonderful country club as Oakmont.

For those who are more fortunate, we could use some help with more golf opportunities. We would like to be invited to more country clubs, just to visit, or for competition. Also, any golf apparel you could donate like shirts, hats, jackets, shoes would be appreciated.
